Great Sutton Street
A bold refurbishment of an existing commercial building, brought to life through distinctive Jesmonite façade elements that balance material innovation with considered architectural detail.
The Brief
Simplicity played a key role in the transformation of an existing office building positioned between Great Sutton Street and Northburgh Street. The project called for a design-led refurbishment that would elevate the building’s presence through a combination of structural intervention and high-quality specialist finishes.
The scope involved reconfiguring the original building layout and constructing a new single-storey extension, with new elements designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing structure.
The Challenge
The project demanded a finish that could deliver both visual impact and architectural precision across multiple façades and building levels. The bespoke scalloped façade and detailed mosaic finishes required careful coordination, while the column and spandrel panels across levels 1–4 on the Northburgh façade called for consistent quality at scale.
The introduction of dark grey Jesmonite cornices, columns, and fluted entrance features needed to strike the right balance, delivering a sense of weight and permanence without overpowering the overall elegance of the scheme.
Our Approach
We manufactured and installed bespoke coloured external Jesmonite panels across both the Great Sutton Street and Northburgh Street ground-floor façades, ensuring each element was crafted to the exact design intent of architect Piercy & Co.
The scalloped façade treatment introduced texture and rhythm to the exterior, while the fluted entrance features and dark grey cornices reinforced the architectural language throughout. Each panel and column was produced to integrate cleanly within the refurbishment, respecting both the existing structure and the new extension.
The Result
The completed scheme delivers a confident, design-forward façade that transforms the character of the building. This project reflects our ability to handle complex refurbishments with a strong design focus, bringing together structural adaptation and fine detailing to deliver a space of lasting quality.
