Dukes Lodge is a luxury residential project, a set of apartments that had the effect of detached townhouses. As part of the design Smart Crosby designed a bespoke stainless steel support system for the window surrounds, chimneys & copings. The features consisted of different shapes and sizes with Jesmonite specified to offer a natural stone effect. Jesmonite was the ideal choice due to its ability to mimic the appearance of stone and offered far lighter weight.

Simplicity was contracted to manufacture, supply & install. We manufactured all models and moulds in our workshop, along with the bespoke stainless-steel bracketry support framework, in line with Smart Crosby’s design. The panels were a more complex design than we were used to. Due to the unusual shape and larger scale of the panels this resulted in a new manufacturing technique to achieve the required finish. Installing the panels required intricate planning. Having a multitude of various shapes and sizes required a more detailed installation sequence. Each panel locked into the one below, therefor naturally, installation was done from the ground up.

Overall, Dukes Lodge required detailed forward-thinking to execute such an innovate design. Simplicity rose to the challenge and were able to overcome the complexities of the contract. The result: a stunning architectural design. The customer was left satisfied, and we continue to work with them to further update the design.
