30 Grosvenor Square: The Chancery Rosewood

Simplicity had significant involvement in transforming the former American Embassy into the prestigious Chancery Rosewood Hotel. From the presidential suites to the reception area, the team designed, manufactured, and installed bespoke ceilings and wall features that enhanced the premium quality of each space. Simplicity restored heritage ceilings using handcrafted Dia Grid systems and created standout elements such as the Eagle Bar’s three-tiered ceiling and the GRG coffered ceilings and curved walls in the presidential suites.

Design Coordination

In collaboration with the associate business Measom Dryline, the team worked on both the design and coordination, as there were various bespoke elements the client wanted to use to elevate the finish within the rooms. Simplicity and Measom were asked to review the feature ceilings in all guest suites and agreed on a solution to simplify installation while maintaining a high-quality finish.

A panelised system was designed, allowing sections of the ceiling to be screwed into place with the mouldings cast on in advance. This reduced the time required for setting out and completing the works. The challenge with the panelised system was ensuring that the moulds were laid out correctly, as any discrepancy would be repeated across hundreds of panels. However, with the expertise of their in-house craftsmen, the team achieved this with a high level of accuracy.

The Eagle Bar

Within this space, Simplicity delivered the GRG curves and the intricate three-tiered ceiling. Forming these elements required a high level of skill and precision due to their complexity. Assembling the curved sections and radius moulds in two planes on site was particularly challenging, as they changed direction. Certain tiers also required recessed areas for acoustic panels installed by others, further increasing complexity.

The Presidential Suites

These are the most premium suites in the building, each comprising a lounge, bedroom, large bathroom with a sauna, and an office or library space. Their size and specific requirements introduced a high level of complexity, where the collaboration between Simplicity and Measom was particularly effective. Simplicity manufactured the GRG light troughs and reflectors along with upright curved corner column sections, while Measom ensured seamless integration with careful attention to transitions between pocket doors, plasterboard, and GRG.
